Greetings, friends!!!
I’m writing to you from the airport in Cincinnati. Travel has simply been a way of life for me this year. Thanks to a generous gift from a friend, I am able to “accompany” Janet and Gabe for his next surgery tomorrow. The outpouring of love and prayer and greetings during this time of healing has been very very encouraging to all of us. Please visit Gabe’s healing site and let him know you are praying.
As you know, the new has been very good. Gabe’s surgeon has effectively cancelled further surgery beyond tomorrow though we had originally scheduled surgery through October and planned for more in November.
So… Prayer need #1: Praise God for his healing hand on Gabe.
Church plant work continues!
Prayer need #2: Recruitment and virtue capital raising at Taylor Homecoming. I will be at my 15th college homecoming this weekend. I am planning to ask for financial support of friends and classmates. I will also begin actively recruiting college students to serve as staff - on a year-to-year basis - with the church.
Prayer need #3: Please pray for Janet and I as we continue to hash out our roles in the church plant. The church plant seems to offer an opportunity for Janet and I to share our vocational life again as we did in Siberia when we were both full-time staff on the same project. We’d like to work together again as well as share family responsibilities more equitably than we’ve been able to over the last 10 years.
Prayer need #4: Virtue capital. It takes money to do ministry. Please pray for an overwhelming response to our “Virtue Capital Campaign.” There are many great reasons to participate financially in this church start whether from a secular or a faith perspective. Prayer need #5: People and relationships… Everyday that I am on the job, I am meeting at least 10 new folks. Many of these people have a home church. Many have no relationship with Jesus and never have. Many have had a better relationship with Jesus and his followers. I need to connect and build a sense of community with all of these categories of people and more. I am working on plans to do just that. The first goal will be to have 50 people meet with me in December for a prayer meeting for the church start.

Hey, two things. Send me a request letter asap as I’d like to support the Lords ministry there. Let me know the date of the December prayer meeting. I think it might be a good idea to have one at Mantua at the same time to lift up the ministry there in NC. Prayer works! I’ve witnessed too many things over the past year that have proved it.

As always your family and your ministry are in our prayers. These Tests - they can become a Test-Imony…
These messes of life - can be a message for someone else.
These things - later on you will look back on and think of them just as the history of your family - but they are so much more…
They are His-Story.
Know that it is Jesus alone who can keep you from falling - and who presents us to the Holy Father as clean - renewed - … Keep the passion… the rest (although its hard)

Glad to hear all is well. Gabe GOD Bless you my little buddy. Keep up the good work. Dave and Janet so much excitment in what you are doing creating a new church to worship our God.
