This prayer update is dedicated to Gabe. His healing is the biggest thing going on in our lives right now.
Nine years and one month ago today, God gave us two beautiful sons… way too early. Elliot and Gabriel were born at 29 weeks instead of the usual 40. Elliot recovered and is totally healthy. Gabriel has struggled for 9 years with a diseased airway.
Gabe has had dozens of surgical procedures and several reconstructions at Boston Children’s, Philadelphia Children’s and Cincinnati Children’s Hospitals. This past year, Gabriel had two major reconstructive surgeries in Cincinnati that we hope have healed his airway.
Friday, Gabriel will have the stent that is currently in his airway removed. This will reveal what has happened during the 5 month healing process since Gabe’s last reconstruction. If everything goes well, the procedure on Friday will be followed by eight more to ensure that Gabe’s new airway stays open.
Please pray for Gabe this week! Join us in asking the Lord to bring complete healing to Gabe’s trachea.
Regular updates on Gabe’s progress will be available via his website at www.caringbridge.org/visit/gabrielw.
The entire Wehrle family will be journeying to Cincinnati and to Wilmore, KY. Gabriel will have surgery on Friday, 9/26 and Friday 10/3. David will be working on his dissertation between the two surgeries. Janet and the boys will be doing school work and visiting friends.
We have currently managed to rally together almost 150,000 frequent flyer miles to get Gabe to and from Cincinnati. That will cover some but not all of the trips Gabe will need to make. If you would like to support Gabe by donating miles… or in other creative ways, please let us know!
In other news, church planting continues to progress. David is currently exceeding his goal of 30 new contacts each week. A master plan for the first 18 months is sketched out. And, thanks to your help and a little anthropological work in our new community, the identity of this new church is beginning to emerge.
Thanks so much for joining us in this adventure!!! Stay in touch.

Hi Guys! We were just talking about you with Dr. Danis yesterday. He says hello! We will pray for Gabe’s healing over the next few weeks, and we look forward to reading updates. Thanks for being faithful with communicating! By the way, did you know we’re expecting #5 in November? We’re NOT so good at communicating!
God’s best to you all…

As a fellow servant in Christ, I am praying with you for Gabe’s full recovery and God’s glory. I too, have a son whose name is Gabriel. We also call him Gabe, (not a common name). The hearts of my wife Diane and I go out to you, and Gabe will certainly be on the prayer list at Garris Chapel.

“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us” (Romans 5:1-5)
“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see” (Hebrews 11:1)
Lord,
We believe
You hear our prayers;
You remember our prayers;
You answer to our prayers.
Lord,
We have the hope
that You will bring complete healing to Gabe.
Lord,
Now,
we stand on Your promises.
Jesus Christ,
Our Lord, our God,
Wehrle family has persevered over 9 years
with the hope in You.
Jesus Christ,
Our Lord, our God,
If it is Your will
let the perseverance finish its work
so that Wehrle family may be matured and complete
not lacking anything.
Jesus Christ,
Our Lord, our God,
Remember the love Wehrle family has been pouring out
to You for Your Kingdom
for in Christ Jesus the only thing that counts is
Faith expressing itself through love.
We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, our God,
who is alive today, yesterday and forever. Amen.
