O.k. I’ve finally gotten around to that greatest of all new church start activities. I’ve been very hesitant to touch this as I do not have any type of advisory body put together yet, nor am I 100% sure what the church will look like. I also hear that this pastime is a huge distraction and time vacuum for church planters. But, I am finding it increasingly difficult to build the church without a name and at least a sketchy identity.
So… I am finally playing with names and logos.
Background: The church will be uniquely about forming community. In the Christian doctrine of the trinity, we believe that God exists in three persons, each fully God, but each unique. Each person completely knows, loves and “indwells” the other so that the trinity is a perfect picture of community. The Bible tells us that “God is love” and we see this in the completely outward focus of the community within the trinity. God is constantly inviting us in, including us in community, infilling us by the Holy Spirit, coming to us in human form in Jesus… The Bible also tells us that we are created in God’s “image.” One critical way in which we are created to look like God is in our capacity for and our actual engagement in trinity-like community.
So… I’m thinking seriously about naming the church… “Trinity - A United Methodist Church”
I’m looking for a logo to express the main idea of the church. It needs to be artistically relevant but update-able and timeless. It also needs to include three “sub-logos” to be used to define the discipleship process, etc…

Dave,
Hey there! As the others have said, I like the first two logos best. Actually #2 kind of reminds me of the Saturn auto logo. I have always sensed that their brand has emphasized a sense of community more so than most other car dealers. Would it be good to actually use the word “community” somewhere in the church name, such as “United Methodist Community”. Just a thought! Hey, keep pressing on! David

Hi Dave!
I like #1 the best! Number 3 comes in as 2nd for me. Good luck!

#1, это то что надо! Но это мой взгляд и моя точка зрения, а по моиму ничего менять и добавлять к 1 не надо! Смотри в глубь сердца, что Бог вложил в него то и бери - это и будет самым благословенным!

I am missing the cross in all of these logos, so I am sad. I think it needs to be there. Thanks.

This logo (#1) breaks my expectations of a rigid United Methodist Church. I appreciate the desire to focus on the cross, but I don’t have a problem with it being omitted from the logo as long as it is not omitted from the church.
