We have just finished a great year at Asbury Seminary in Wilmore, KY. David completed his classwork for the Doctor of Ministry degree and has begun the dissertation phase. Elliot and Gabriel completed second grade and Nate has finished first. And, Janet made it all possible by caring for us. We experienced awesome Christian community with nine other families—including 24 children–involved in the program. We’ll really miss it, but it is time to move on
And we are moving on… to Raleigh, North Carolina! Actually, we’ll be living in an area known as “Cleveland School.” Our community is the fastest growing community in one of the fastest growing areas of the country, North Carolina’s “Research Triangle.” That means that we will not be the only new people on the block. We already know that many families have recently moved to our neighborhood and many more will be arriving soon. Just like the rest of us, these people need to know that God loves them, and they need friendships. We believe God is calling us to address those needs.
That’s why we are starting new church. David has been appointed by the United Methodist Church in New Jersey and in North Carolina to begin a new church. How do you do that? We’re not totally sure, but here are two things we know:
- We can help out, but this is something big enough that only God can do it.
- We can start it, but this is something big enough that we really need your help.
So, we have started a new website. While we can’t reach out and hug you through the web site, we do hope that it will help us to grow in our relationship with one another. Through two-way communication with you, we can partner in this huge undertaking that God has called us to.
Now, the question is: Is God calling you to help start a church in Cleveland School? And, what kind of help will you give? Already, we are looking for a group of people who will commit to praying with us daily for this new church. Some of you have also offered to give financially.
We need to hear from you! Would you take a moment, please, to pray for us and to consider how you can join us in starting the church in Cleveland School? Let us know that you intend to support us through daily prayer or other means. You can do that by leaving a comment here, e-mailing or writing to us, or even calling us. See our contact information on our website.
For those who choose to join with us, we commit to provide you with an e-mailed weekly digest of this blog. We will also stay in touch via other means. We’ll keep you informed of our joys and challenges as well as our… no, God’s progress in establishing the Church in Cleveland School, North Carolina.
We love you and consider it an honor to serve God’s Kingdom beside you.
“I always pray for you, and I make my requests with a heart full of joy because you have been my partners in spreading the Good News about Christ.” Philippians 1:4-5 NLT

Hey Janet, Can’t believe how BIG the boys are. It is like I have been living in a time warp. We are moving to N.C. in January ‘09. Hope we can see you all then.
